Managing GBV in Emergencies (MGBViE) Phase II In-Person Training

International Medical Corps is now accepting applications from emerging GBV specialists for the 2019 seven-day, in-person training titled the ‘Managing Gender-Based Violence Programs in Emergencies Training Course’ scheduled for mid-July 2019. The training is part of the MGBViE global learning program that aims to increase the number of GBV specialists in complex emergencies and is funded through the U.S. Department of State, Bureau for Population, Refugees, and Migration.

The training is scheduled for mid-July 2019 (exact dates TBD) and will be held in Turkey.

Training participants will learn to develop and lead programmes that are appropriate to the context, time frames, and organizational capacity, as well as responsive to gender differences. Considerations for program planning include appropriate staff and volunteer profiles, possible service entry points, and potential barriers/risks to service access across different populations.

About the training course:

  • Aims to build professional competencies in the field of GBV.
  • The training curriculum covers a GBV-focused “toolkit” including psychosocial support, case management, health, social behavior change, working with men & boys, security & legal/justice, and advocacy.
  • Other aspects of GBV programme management, including programme models and approaches, assessment, M&E, and HR, will also be covered.
  • Participants must design context-appropriate program plans.
  • Aims to benefit crisis-affected populations at-risk of/who have experienced GBV through increased capacity for GBV prevention and response.

Target participants:

  • Emerging specialists, specifically those who would lead to GBV prevention and response. An emerging GBV specialist is someone who demonstrates an interest in managing GBV prevention and response programs, meets basic academic and communication standards to work with an implementing humanitarian organization, etc. More information can be found in the Call for Applications.
  • Additional emphasis will be placed on individuals representing local organizations.
Fee information:

Accommodation costs will be covered for all participants. Financial coverage for some travel expenses may be available for individuals who submit a strong justification.
