Job Description

Created in 2018, Legal and General Affordable Homes (LGAH) is a commercial business with a social purpose. We focus on injecting institutional capital into the affordable housing sector to build good quality homes and deliver a great customer experience.

Our commitment is to increase the much-needed supply of affordable homes in England and provide best-in-class customer service, putting customers at the heart of our business, listening to their needs and delivering services which matter to them most. Technology is central to these aims and one of the four pillars of our corporate strategy to deliver better homes for our customers.

As the Director of Technology, you will be responsible for the successful operation and resilience of existing business critical systems on which the business relies. In tandem, you will also be responsible for the design and delivery of programmes of work to continue the evolution of LGAH as a digitally driven affordable housing provider and landlord.

Working with stakeholders, you will ensure that technology empowers all functions of the organisation for the benefit of our customers, staff and partners. You will sit at the heart of our work to develop a truly efficient and effective business model through which thousands of our customers gain access to much needed, well managed affordable housing.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Overseeing the management of the organisation’s technology stack to ensure that the organisation continuously benefits from robust and resilient systems
  • Building and then delivering a technology roadmap that underpins the corporate strategy and enables the business to fully capture its strategic aims and solidify its competitive advantage over the wider residential sector
  • Drawing together technologies that enable the business to operate a seamless ecosystem across its supply chain network
  • Horizon scanning for new opportunities to lever further gain from technologies that help the business to deliver its corporate aims
  • Working collaboratively with internal SMEs and colleagues across change, data and process design to ensure that business solutions are developed and designed with a rounded view of business requirements
  • Delivering a comprehensive assurance framework for the technology environment, recognising the regulated nature of the business and parent organisation
  • Operating an effective IT and Cyber security framework to manage risks to the business and its customer
  • Ensuring policy and procedure is effective, up to date and using business assurance techniques to test these regularly

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Lots of experience working in a product and service type environment with large eco-system or platform-based environments
  • A strong track record of working in a scaleup organisation and driving a business to maturity as a successful digitally backed organisation
  • Ability to bring together technology roadmaps and architectural designs to support the business in navigating through its corporate strategy; using technology as an enabler to achieve business aims
  • Experience of working in both SME & large businesses and an understanding of the challenge each scenario brings
  • Managed organisations comprised of cloud architectures
  • Previous experience of delivering complex programmes and projects and working with SAFe type methodologies of change.
  • Confident in translating business needs into technological solutions; you can get to grips with what the business is trying to achieve commercially and how technology can aid and contribute to this
  • Cyber Security management experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders across the business and to support building functions across LGAH
  • Ability to build high performing teams through proactive leadership that helps foster an environment of trust in which colleagues feel confident to operate autonomously
  • An engaging style and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across the business
