Role Purpose:

  • Coats Turkey Industrial Yarns and Coats Zip Unit ‘s occupational health, safety and guidance to the field of environment, risk assessment, work environment surveillance, training and information activities is to carry out in cooperation with other departments.
  • At the same time, to ensure compliance with local regulations, Coats Global OHS and environmental practices, to fulfill the requirements in this direction in integration with the OHSAS 18001 management system and the ISO 14001 Environmental management system, together with the OHSAS 18001 Management system and the ISO14001 environmental management system, Coats OHS and Environmental Policy, Objectives and To ensure the implementation of target-oriented practices in line with its strategies and to create an OHS culture.
  • To ensure the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management system by applying it effectively.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Listing legal obligations on environment and OHS, following and fulfilling obligations
  • Preparing necessary procedures, work permit systems, instructions, control charts in line with Coats expectations and ensuring that they are applied to all operations
  • 45001 and ISO 14001 system
  • Preparing the legal annual work plan and annual evaluation report together with the workplace doctor.
  • Notification in written about the measures to be taken regarding occupational health and safety.
  • Inviting board members to the meeting according to the meeting periods of the OHS boards, making the content and preparation for the agenda items, participating in the department OHS committee meetings and providing the necessary inputs.
  • Root cause analysis and reporting of work accidents and occupational diseases, determination and follow-up of corrective actions.
  • Planning and carrying out risk assessment studies, reviewing periodically and after the work accident, in the presence of new / changes occurring in the business, determining, recording and monitoring preventive actions to reduce the risks to acceptable levels within specified periods.
  • Surveillance of the working environment, periodic maintenance, planning of control and measurements, control of applications
  • Preparing emergency plans and exercise plans together with the engineering department, conducting periodic trainings and drills, and monitoring and keeping the emergency plan activity up-to-date.
  • Recording the near miss, danger notifications, tracking their activities, giving feedback
  • Periodic implementation of Coats OHS audit (H&S Peer Review) and preparation of development plan
  • Tracking new and changing risks that enter the business, initiating and monitoring preliminary risk assessment and machine safety analysis processes, recording and tracking actions.
  • Preparation of Machine Safety analysis plan, reporting periodically, following the actions
  • Preparing the annual training plan, taking into account the legal legislation, global and local requirements, and submitting it to the approval of the employer.
  • Preparation of internal training documents, question lists for training effectiveness measurement, keeping safety alerts and information screens up-to-date, training employees, providing guidance, communication with units and information
  • Controlling of documents related to subcontractors, contractors, suppliers, auditing of work permits and working methods.
  • Evaluating work accidents and occupational diseases with the workplace doctor, preparing necessary preventive action plans by conducting investigations and researches to prevent recurrence of dangerous incidents, and following up the applications.
  • Participating in OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001 legal and other Occupational Health and Safety audits, providing guidance and cooperation
  • Providing guidance on determining the department’s OHS targets
  • Preparation of Occupational Health and Safety local and global KPI reports and presentations when necessary.
  • Ensuring that important environmental aspects are identified, evaluated, periodically controlled and updated.
  • Ensuring that the legal and other requirements related to the activities are identified, listed up-to-date, communicated and reviewed, and the financial resource is budgeted.
  • To ensure that the Purposes and Targets and Target Planning Charts are prepared and developed together with the relevant department supervisors.
  • To ensure that relevant information, opinions and documents are received, answered and documented in communications with external parties, by making the necessary selections from these documents, determining and communicating the places to be transmitted within the organization, and updating the relevant system documents.
  • Ensuring that the suggestions received regarding the Environmental Management System are evaluated together with the relevant Unit responsible, and that the necessary corrections and arrangements are made in order to put the suggestions into practice, the complaints are recorded and reported to the Senior Management.
  • To ensure that the documents prepared or updated regarding EMS are reviewed and approved, and the personnel training required for the operations covering special work instructions is organized.
  • To ensure that emergency exercise plans are prepared, implemented, reported, and problems encountered are eliminated and deficiencies are eliminated.
  • Notifying Senior Management to determine and ensure emergency communication equipment requirements.
  • Ensuring that the information required to be declared in accordance with the regulations is transmitted to the authorized institutions.
  • Determination of all activities and necessary expenditures that prevent environmental pollution and support control within the Environmental Management System, prepare the annual budget of the Environmental Management System and submit it to the Senior Management.


Education, Qualifications and Experience:


(Essential)

  • Minimum Class B Occupational Safety Expertise Certificate authorized by the Ministry
  • Faculty of Engineering Graduate
  • Fluent English writing and speaking skills
  • Has worked as an active OHS specialist
  • Experienced in OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001
  • Experienced in Occupational Safety “Good Practices”
  • Experienced in environmental protection activities and requirements
  • Very experienced in Risk Analysis in the business environment
  • Having the ability to be aggressive and cool
  • Being prone to teamwork
  • To have leadership and effective communication skills
  • Having received the “Training of the Trainer” training
  • NEBOSH Certificate


(Desirable)

  • NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Experienced in Behavior Oriented Security Management
  • Process and Operation experience
