Context

The Inclusive Growth and Gender Teams at the UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub (IRH) in Istanbul, Türkiye, have developed, together with the North Macedonia Country Office, a report focusing on a gender-responsive review of the North Macedonia care system as part of a multi-country package. To ensure the highest quality and consistency of the report prior to publication, we are seeking an online volunteer support for editing, proofreading and data checking. The selected online volunteers will have a unique opportunity to further enhance professional skills in an international development context, enhance cross-cultural communication abilities, and contribute to impactful work that advances gender equality and inclusive growth in the region.

Key Responsibilities

The online volunteer will be responsible for editing and proofreading one care report to ensure clarity, accuracy and consistency in language, style, and formatting, as well as conducting basic data checks (e.g., cross-checking data points, figures, tables and references for consistency and completeness). The online volunteer will: · Edit and proofread the care report for grammar, spelling, punctuation and overall language quality. · Ensure consistent terminology, style and formatting throughout the report. · Check for clarity, coherence and logical flow, making suggestions for improvement where necessary. · Verify that references, footnotes, annexes and any citations are complete and correctly formatted. · Conduct data checks for internal consistency (e.g., data points, figures, percentages, totals, table/figure numbering and alignment between data, text and sources). · Ensure that the final version of the report is ready for publication, adhering to UNDP guidelines (to be provided).

Required Skills and Experience

– Experience in editing and proofreading technical or academic publications. – Excellent command of written English, with strong attention to detail and accuracy. – Familiarity with international development, social protection and care, gender equality, or related topics is an asset. – Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate effectively with another volunteer. – Experience working with style guides and publication standards.
