Join the Global Travel Retail Team as an External Affairs Manager!

Philip Morris International’s Global Travel Retail (GTR) team is seeking an External Affairs Manager to report to the Director of External Affairs GTR. This global role is responsible for driving and implementing the PMI External Affairs strategy for our travel retail business across regions, markets, and functions

What Your Day Looks Like:

External Affairs Strategy:

  • Deliver proactive communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding regulatory and external affairs issues related to our GTR business.
  • Contribute to departmental priorities while ensuring alignment with the PMI global EA strategy.

Management of Regulatory Changes:

  • Lead horizontal and regional regulatory issues to ensure successful management of regulatory changes, identifying commercial opportunities and safeguarding the business’s future.
  • Translate strategic positions and frameworks into concrete guidelines for activities such as launch plans and marketing operations.
  • Serve as the focal point for all regions on regulatory issues, proactively defending against adverse regulations and identifying opportunities.
  • Provide assessments, advice, and recommendations for management, aligned with business priorities and the commercial landscape.

Business Partnering:

  • Engage with business partners, including operators and distributors, to advocate for regulatory issues and opportunities.
  • Act as a business partner for relevant central, regional, and business functions, delivering guidance and frameworks on horizontal issues, ensuring structured information management for all issues.

Manage External Engagements for PMI GTR:

  • Represent the GTR team externally and develop and maintain close working relationships with relevant external stakeholders (e.g., public affairs consultancies, working groups, industry associations).

  • Strong and proven skills in managing multiple projects and work streams under constantly changing regulatory requirements.
  • Resilience and drive to perform effectively under time pressure, adversity, and opposition.
  • Ability to adapt to change and unexpected circumstances.
  • Comfortable in a highly dynamic and ambiguous environment with a strong drive for results.
  • Autonomous, resourceful, well-organized, and self-motivated, with the ability to develop appropriate scenarios for decision-making under ambiguity.
  • Experience managing external agencies and political consultants.
  • Analytical skills to think and operate strategically at all levels and manage risks effectively.
  • Experience in delivering in regional or global roles is highly desirable.
