Background
Sened, is an independent non-profit organization established and registered in Türkiye (under No: 27-15-175) in 2013.
- The name “Sened” in Arabic means “support” you could count on.
•Sened, was founded in response to The Syrian catastrophe, which led to critical situations and displacement of internally displaced people (IDPs) within Syria. The individuals who faced hardships due to factors such as repression, human rights abuses, and violence against civilians (including bombings, shelling, and sieges) and the urgent needs of millions of Syrian refugees in Türkiye. Later, our projects expanded to include support for the Turkish hosting community of the Syrian refugees. Our work spans across humanitarian sectors, with a special focus on advocating for the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities (PwDs) and their families.

Job purpose
The Finance Senior Officer will be responsible for supporting the financial management, accounting, and donor compliance functions of Sened Organization. They will ensure that financial transactions are accurately recorded, donor requirements are met, and sound financial controls are maintained across the organization’s programs.
Duties, Objectives, Competencies
Financial Management & Accounting:
• Oversee day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with SENED’s financial policies and procedures.
• Review and process payments, advances, and bank reconciliations in line with internal control procedures.
• Maintain and update the organization’s accounting system and general ledger.
Budgeting & Financial Reporting:
• Support the preparation of program and organizational budgets, budget monitoring, and variance analysis.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for management and donors.
- Consolidate financial data across projects for internal and external reporting.
Donor Compliance:
- Ensure financial management and reporting comply with donor requirements, particularly GIZ and EU regulations.
- Support the preparation of donor financial reports and expenditure liquidation documents.
- Assist in preparing for and responding to donor and internal/external audits.
Internal Controls & Governance:
- Monitor compliance with SENED’s financial policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
- Identify financial risks and propose corrective actions.
- Support capacity building of finance team members on financial procedures and donor compliance requirements.
Objectives:
Accurate and Timely Financial Reporting:
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports are accurate and submitted on schedule.
Strengthened Donor Compliance:
- Full compliance with GIZ, EU, and other donor financial requirements is maintained.
Effective Budget Management:
- Project teams are supported in budget planning, monitoring, and forecasting.
Robust Internal Controls:
- A strong internal control environment that safeguards organizational assets is maintained.
Competencies:
Financial & Analytical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and donor compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with donors, auditors, and program teams.
Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
- Familiarity with donor financial guidelines, particularly GIZ and EU regulations.
Organizational Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Integrity & Accountability:
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability in handling financial information.

Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in finance or accounting.
- At least 5 years of experience working with humanitarian/NGO organizations.
- Strong knowledge of donor financial requirements, particularly GIZ and EU regulations.
- Advanced English language skills.
- Advanced Arabic language skills.
- Holding Turkish nationality.
Desired Requirements
- Turkish language proficiency (strongly preferred).
- Professional certifications in accounting, auditing, or finance (e.g. CPA, CIA, CMA) are preferred.
