With our highly successful Turkish content such as Erşan Kuneri, Şahmaran, Zeytin Ağacı, Bir Başkadır, Netflix continues to establish its presence in Turkey and seeks an experienced attorney to join Netflix’s growing content slate in the region. This role is a unique opportunity to impact Netflix’s expanding business in Turkey.

Based in Istanbul, the role is on the Business & Legal Affairs team and will be focused on both supporting the growing slate of Netflix original scripted series, non-fiction series, film content produced in Turkish language and also will be focused on supporting our Marketing and Comms partners in Türkiye x as well as partnering with marketing legal counsel across our other offices to provide spill-over legal support.

The candidate will assist in scaling our Turkish language content operations, working alongside creative partners to structure content production agreements and harmonize Netflix objectives within production and legal frameworks in Turkey. In doing so, the candidate will be responsible for understanding the legal landscape and production customs, and executing on Netflix’s strategy as necessary to develop and produce local content for Netflix’s global streaming platform. Also, as part of the Marketing Legal team, the candidate will help define the Netflix brand and shape the future of entertainment. Netflix is known for its creative marketing strategy and distinctive brand voice. The Marketing Legal team works alongside local Marketing (which includes title marketing, publicity, social media and marketing production), Communications and Marketing Partnerships.

In particular, the candidate will be involved in negotiating production deals for programming either with local production partners, as well as overseeing all aspects of business and legal affairs matters before, during and after production, providing advice on creative concepts, copy and activations; helping navigate rights management by advising on third party IP rights, advising on marketing/advertising laws; drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with deal-making in regulated sectors. The role requires a deep knowledge of the legal intricacies in the Turkish media, technology or telecommunications sector, a facility in creative thinking, good judgment, the ability to collaborate strongly within a team, and the flexibility to quickly pivot within a strategy.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will be admitted to practice law in Turkey, have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience (ideally trained in a reputable law firm), and will have proven years of technology, media and telecommunications experience in Turkey. Fluency in English and native Turkish are essential requirements for this role.
