Job Description

Your role at a glance

L&G Affordable Homes (L&GAH) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Legal & General, tasked with bringing a much-needed increase in the supply of affordable homes through the use of institutional capital to the UK social housing sector.

As Safety & Compliance Officer, you will ensure that the end-to-end approach to asset management is robust and delivers the best commercial and quality outcomes to the business and its customers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Be responsible for the organisation, monitoring and review of all CDM activity within the business, undertaking both desk top and on-site auditing of sites where LGAH are the client
  • Conduct technical reviews of safety documentation (LGSR, EIC, FRA, L8, LOLER) on a regular basis to support practical completion of new homes and ongoing servicing and maintenance
  • Oversee the operation and management of the technical assurance platform TCW to enable seamless technical reviews ahead of practical completion
  • Organise and review Management Provider quarterly safety returns to ensure new homes handed over are setup correctly, are being serviced, and third party competency is being maintained
  • Engage the wider business to understand safety concerns, identify trends and support with ad-hoc safety advice and guidance
  • Support the Safety & Compliance Manager in the development of a third party competency framework which ensures contractors and suppliers are subject to appropriate safety due diligence prior to engagement
  • Oversee the management of key suppliers within safety and compliance, ensuring performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Support the Safety and Compliance Manager and the wider business in ISO45001 audits through documentation preparation, folder administration and support and guidance to key personnel

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • Technical member of IOSH or have equivalent safety institution membership.
  • NEBOSH general certificate or an equivalent qualification
  • Construction safety qualification desirable.
  • Background in affordable housing compliance desirable
  • Experience conducting CDM audits and site inspections.
  • Experience working with suppliers, contractors, third parties, managing agents and developers desirable.
  • Personal CPD and ongoing review of new legislation and industry guidance,
  • Experience reviewing and maintaining compliance documentation, particularly gas, electrical, water, lifts, and fire.
  • Experience of accident/incident reporting via relevant systems, including investigations.
  • Proactive and creative approach to relationship-building and problem-solving, with a strong attention to detail.
