ABOUT SAVE THE CHILDREN:
Save the Children (SC) was established in 1919 and is the world’s leading organization working for children with operations in more than 120 countries worldwide. Our vision is a world in which every child attains the right to survival, protection, development, and participation.
SC Turkey’s programming is framed by our Country Strategic Plan 2019-2021. We favor integrated programming to promote i) access to education and ECCD, ii) access to livelihood, predominantly among youth, and iii) protection and child protection, with particular focus on prevention and response to child labor, child marriage, and violence against children and iv) Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). We also have a strong focus on child and youth participation, community-based programming, promotion of children’s rights, inclusive programming (particular focus on gender and disability), social cohesion, and resilience to promote sustainable solutions for children, their families, and communities. These thematic areas are in line with SC’s solid technical expertise regionally and globally.
SC Turkey works in partnership and collaboration with key civil society, private sector stakeholders, and formal duty bearers, including municipalities. SC Turkey has gained strong acceptance and trust by the Government of Turkey, which we actively continue to invest.
ABOUT THE CALL
The priority defined in the call for proposal was the stabilization of the social tension and refugee integration. Particular focus will be given on vulnerable groups in a refugee context and the cross-cutting topics of protecting refugees against sexualized violence, children and young people’s rights, and supporting measures for promoting the psychosocial well-being and resilience among refugee children and youth, and socioeconomic empowerment of refugees and host community members.
This will be a 3-years project in Istanbul with an anticipated start date of January 2022 and a budget ceiling of €3m. There is a 10% match funding requirement. Applicants are requested to present their abılıty to contrıbute towards thıs match fundıng requırement as part of theır submıssıon.
PURPOSE OF THE EXPRESSION OF INTEREST:
Save the Children is committed to working for children’s right to survive, learn, and be protected from harm. As Turkey Country Office, we aim to strengthen the preventative and responsive mechanisms to support child rights in Turkey. To achieve this goal, we form a meaningful collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including civil society actors.
With this call, we aim to identify a partner to improve the socioeconomic resilience of refugee and most vulnerable host community youth populations in Turkey.
The purpose of this expression of interest is to identify a local civil society organization to partner with Save the Children to strengthening the socioeconomic inclusion of marginalized, at-risk refugee and host community youth through protection and livelihood services.
The project has three results:
Result 1: Strengthened knowledge and collaboration to improve the quality of partner capacity for provision of youth-centered protection and psychosocial support services,
Result 2: Improved employability and self-reliance of the vulnerable host community and refugee youth through life and market skills,
Result 3: Vulnerable host community and refugee youth are empowered through the establishment of youth-led cooperatives.
Ideally, the selected partner should lead the activities under all results. However, applicants can also indicate under which individual results they propose to lead based on their area of expertise.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Application submission will go through the following process:
- Interested civil society organizations submit an application using the template below by the deadline submission date indicated below.
- Save the Children will conduct a review of all applications. Applications will be assessed based on the evaluation criteria and the details of the call.
- Save the Children, and the selected partner(s) will review detailed project activities within the overall project scope.
- Save the Children will work with the selected partner(s) to assess their needs and capacities to fill into project design and support successful implementation.
- Save the Children will sign an agreement to support and partner with the selected civil society organizations.
Evaluation Criteria
- The organization applying demonstrate the technical and operational capacity and knowledge in the field of youth-centered protection, psychosocial support services and livelihoods; youth empowerment and development of cooperatives;
- The organization implements activities in areas relevant to the call, based on needs identified through an assessment or external resources;
- The activities/programs cited by the organization are in support of promoting child rights
- Relevance, the inclusion of child rights, cooperation, innovation, and experience will be taken into account by Save the Children while evaluating applicants.
