Responsibilities

Assist with captioning and translating recorded talks given by speakers into Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Turkish, and Hindi to meet our FSU’s diverse student population. The goal of this series is to give a platform for people in STEM fields from various historically underrepresented identities, including but not limited to: race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, status, and ability to share their story. Additionally, undergraduate student attendees will potentially see themselves in the narratives shared by speakers in hopes of spurring further studies.

Key Responsibilities:
Listening and watching recorded talks for captioning and translation

Creating translated transcripts of talks

Proofreading translations

Communicating with supervisor and speakers

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Fluent speaker, writer, and reader of English

Fluent speaker, writer, and reader of at least one of the following languages: Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Turkish, or Hindi

Proficient typing skills

Able to work independently and as part of a team

The ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines

Anticipated Salary Range

$10 an hour (up to $500 total)

Part-time, limited-duration opportunity, with flexible hours to fit with student’s coursework, flexible work environment
