The Middle East and Turkey Affairs Department is made up of eight major bilateral business programs to deepen U.S. commercial engagement in the region: the Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, and Turkey Business Councils, as well as the GCC Business Initiative. Under the direction of the executive director of Middle East, Turkey, and Kazakhstan Affairs, provide programmatic, policy, and administrative support to the U.S.-Turkey Business Council and the U.S.-Kazakhstan Business Council.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage program development, policy advocacy, and other activities of the U.S.-Turkey Business Council and the U.S.-Kazakhstan Business Council.
Liaise with a broad range of companies, government agencies, and business associations in the U.S., Turkey, Kazakhstan, and the Middle East with a focus on serving member companies and growing the Chamber’s business programs.
Support member company engagement in meetings, programs, and events for the U.S.-Turkey Business Council and the U.S.-Kazakhstan Business Council.
Implement and support events in the U.S., Turkey, and Kazakhstan.
Help execute business missions and meetings to Turkey and Kazakhstan, as well as visits from senior-level government officials and business leaders from these countries to the U.S.
Serve member companies of the U.S.-Turkey Business Council and the U.S.-Kazakhstan Business Council, and identify prospective member companies to further their business initiatives in target countries.
Organize and promote programs and events, including developing agendas and interfacing with speakers, government officials, and key partners.
Prepare content for internal and external updates, newsletters, and websites.
Respond to business advisory inquiries.
Support efforts to expand membership.
Coordinate with the consultant based in Turkey to advance program objectives.
Handle other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of work experience.
An understanding of and familiarity with business associations and/or U.S. business operations in Turkey, including trade and investment issues.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Strong organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Flexibility to travel to Turkey and Kazakhstan 1-2 times per year.
Turkish language skills preferred.
Salary commensurate with experience.
