Set to open in early 2021, Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul, will be Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s second hotel in Turkey.  The hotel will enjoy a prime location on the sunny shores of the Bosphorus, situated on the European side of Istanbul in the high-end residential Kuruçeşme neighborhood.
The urban resort, with its lush generous enchanted gardens, will feature two outdoor pools and private wooden pavilions on the shores of the Bosphorus.  Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul will be comprised of 100 spacious guestrooms and suites, innovative restaurants & bars and expensive and elegant banqueting facilities. Spread over 2,700 square meters, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul will become one of Istanbul’s best wellness and beauty destination.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

To direct, manage and support the development, implementation, maintenance and administration of all financial controls and accounting procedures, based upon a maximisation of internal control techniques consistent with MOHG established policy and generally accepted accounting principles, as adapted to any local legal requirements.

The Director of Finance plays an active role in the management of the hotel and will exercise a responsive attitude to the needs of the General Manager and other members of the hotel management team

To be actively involved in the search for opportunities to improve the profitability of the hotel and encourage the preparation of exception reports and analyses to help meet and measure the success of this objective.

Manage/oversee the accounting department to ensure optimal efficiency of financial operations and adherence to Mandarin Oriental commitments to management contracts

Supervises preparation all financial reports, ledger reviews and forecasts according to the established schedule, for distribution of operational information necessary to assist management in decision-making and budget preparation processes

Oversees preparation of, interprets and analyzes monthly financial statements and presents to management

Compiles financial data related to operations, investigate and critique variances from expectations to determine cause and recommend appropriate management response to insure attainment of hotels financial objective

Coordinates the development of the Annual Budget and Monthly Forecasts

Ensures proper, timely payment of fees for licenses, permits, regulatory contracts and insurance’s, all taxes

Serves as active member of Executive Committee and attends all related Meetings

 

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Hospitality Management

Five years Financial Controller Experience in Hospitality Accounting operations, a portion of which must be in the luxury sector

Experience in Luxury Hotel preferred

Financial certification 

Ability to generate all financial reports, including profit & loss statement, income statement, etc.

Excellent communication skills both written and spoken in English & Turkish

Advanced proficiency in Excel

Ability to assemble, analyze, understand integrated spread sheets and complex technical information

Prioritization skills necessary to meet deadlines

Strong presentation skills

Effective management, leadership, organizational and communications skills
