Key Responsibilities:
As a member of the Local Comptrollers Team, the key focus areas will be;
- Perform Turkey GAAP relevant accounting activities (i.e. journal entry preparations, actual reviews & account analysis) in coordination with regional/global centralized service centers.
- Act as the point of contact for routine business cases requiring accounting & tax mentorship and provide support to other functions (e.g. accounts payable/receivable organizations, purchasing etc.) to ensure compliance to local requirements.
- Prepare Turkey GAAP specific accounting/adjustment entries and submit to financial service centers for reviews/approvals and posting. Submit e-books prepared by service centers. Support regional teams in preparation and/or troubleshooting of the e-books.
- Document and file all Turkey GAAP accounting and tax related documentation to be aligned with Turkey GAAP and tax requirements. Coordinate preparation and submission of regular tax returns (e.g. VAT, WHT, CIT etc) in collaboration with regional service centers and external advisors (e.g. independent audit firms).
Perform monthly account reconciliations for Turkey GAAP balance sheet accounts, troubleshoot accounting issues and/or aging items, develop solutions and turn the solutions into action. Support routine and/or project-based internal and/or external compliance and reporting activities (i.e. VAT refund, government audits, compliance projects, process optimizations).
Key Requirements/Skills/Experience:
- University degree in economics/business administration or in a related field with a focus on Accounting/ Tax and early career experience in accounting and external reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and approach for developing solutions. Understanding of accounting basics and Turkey GAAP requirements, basic understanding of US GAAP and/or IFRS is beneficial.
- Basic knowledge of SAP FI, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications are required. Strong communication skills, expression orally and in writing, both in Turkish and English.
