AC in Turkey – Fall 2021 Young Global Professionals

Our Young Global Professionals are an integral part of the* Atlantic Council in Turkey.* Most of our work involves an all-hands-on-deck approach that requires interns to actively engage with our events, publications, and strategies. As a result, this position exposes interns to the writing and publishing procedure, logistical elements of event planning, and the process of creating strategic initiatives within a think tank.
Interns work closely with AC in Turkey team to provide important research and logistical support to the Center. They are also encouraged to participate in and attend events hosted by other programs at the Atlantic Council.
The successful candidates will have a passion for the work, an entrepreneurial ethos, and a collegial spirit; they will be effective communicators; and will enjoy learning and growing in a fast-paced organization. Demonstrated interest in international affairs, specifically Turkish Affairs, through classwork and/or experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to support the activities of the Center.
  • Handle logistical elements for program events.
  • Manage program contacts database.
  • Draft formal correspondence to government officials and invitations for events.
  • Take notes at Council roundtables and strategy sessions for program archives.
  • Track AC in Turkey media metrics.
  • Assist the Center in promoting publications, events, and press mentions.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be based in Turkey.
  • Professional-level proficiency in Turkish and English.
  • Experience working in digital communications and website management is preferred.
  • Must be at least a college junior in good standing, a graduate student, or a recent graduate, preferably majoring in international affairs, economics, or a related field.
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (out of 4.0) scale, or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution.
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hrs/week) preferred.
  • Must have excellent research, writing, and people skills.
  • Must work well with others and interact professionally with senior officials.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
