Turkish Cook

Efes Turkish Cuisine is looking for a seasoned and reliable cook specializing in preparing Turkish dishes for its busy restaurant in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The duties of this position are as follows: prepare and cook complete Turkish meals and dishes; assist in scheduling and supervising kitchen help; oversee kitchen operations; maintain inventory and records of food and supplies; clean kitchen and work area; assist in planning menus, determining size of food portions, estimating food requirements; and assist in hiring and training kitchen staff.

The successful applicant will have at least 5 years’ experience cooking Turkish cuisine, and will have charcoal grill cooking and Turkish baking experience. The candidate should have butchery expertise (cutting lamb and chicken) and experience with Turkish fish dishes.

Salary: $20/hour

Terms of employment: Permanent, full-time (40 hours/week)

Minimum educational/training requirements: high school diploma required; vocational certification or diploma preferred.
