INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN SPECIALIST

Position Summary:
The Regional Flagship Language Initiatives Culture Initiative (RFLI CI) Instructional Design Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that the overall design of the culture initiative (culture scenarios, culture notes, in-class curricular activities, and additional materials to be used with the culture modules) is in keeping with curricular design theory and best practices. This position will work closely with the RFLI CI Program Manager (PM) and the content creators who are responsible for developing the scenarios to be used by Boren-funded students learning intensive Indonesian, Hindi and Urdu, and Turkish during the summer and fall terms. The position will coordinate the instructional design efforts in consultation with multiple staff, partners, and stakeholders. The position will manage deadlines and meet the requirements of the grant; as well as the specific duties listed below.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
The ideal candidate will be working toward their PhD in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, or another comparable field. Those who have already completed their PhDs in a relevant field may also apply for the position. Applicants should have experience in both education and technology and have international experience (study/live abroad, etc.). Preference for someone who has learned a second language and has cross-cultural experience.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
Previous experience in instructional design; experience with language learning and cultural studies preferred

Demonstrated competence in curriculum development and evaluation

Excellent communication skills working with a variety of stakeholders, agencies, and partners

Ability to work as a member of a team, while also self-motivated to independently complete individual duties and meet deadlines

Attention to detail

Ability to manage deadlines and requirements of grant

Knowledge of ADA compliance within educational technology preferred
