Background:

Sened, is an independent non-profit organization established and registered in Türkiye (under No: 27-15-175) in 2013.

• The name “Sened” in Arabic means “support” you could count on.

• Sened, was founded in response to The Syrian catastrophe, which led to critical situations and displacement of internally displaced people (IDPs) within Syria. The individuals who faced hardships due to factors such as repression, human rights abuses, and violence against civilians (including bombings, shelling, and sieges) and the urgent needs of millions of Syrian refugees in Türkiye. Later, our projects expanded to include support for the Turkish hosting community of the Syrian refugees. Our work spans across humanitarian sectors, with a special focus on advocating for the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities (PwDs) and their families.

Job purpose:

SRH Midwife / Nurse is responsible for providing SRH (sexual and reproductive health) counselling services, delivering RH commodities to the beneficiaries, referring cases to internal and external services, follow-up cases and report to GBV Officer.

The SRH/Nurse will carry out both center-based and community-based activities in Gaziantep and, when required, conduct field visits to facilitate access to services and ensure that identified cases are referred to appropriate protection services and receive the necessary support in a timely manner.

 

Duties, Objectives, Competencies:

• Provide essential information on SRH to refugee community members in the community center and field, specific focus on women and girls with disabilities from both refugee and host communities to address their heightened vulnerability and ensure their protection by empowering them with information and access to essential SRH services.

• Responsible for registration of the beneficiaries for counselling, provision of the service, guidance and follow-up after the service and delivering RH commodities.

• Provide evaluation of the beneficiary, pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and post-pregnancy evaluations, examinations and tests, which play a key role in minimizing maternal and infant mortality. If the beneficiary has requested services related to pregnancy planning, provide counselling on methods

• Identify protection risks and supports the beneficiary in directing them to other service providers and follow up. Make sure that the beneficiary understands the service provided correctly and arranges the next visit.

• Conduct awareness sessions on relevant issues for beneficiaries and target groups.

• Ensure the continuity of missing materials required for the regular and continuous provision of sexual and reproductive health counselling sessions.

• Make sure that the beneficiary’s data entry is done in accordance with the standards.

• Establish and maintain good relations with key stakeholders in the implementation area.

• Supporting the service mapping and keeping service map updated

• Support and promote the standards outlined in the Code of Conduct and associated policies to project team.

• Any other job-related tasks as assigned by supervisor/line manager.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

The above-mentioned key tasks and duties are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities may be assigned to the job at the request of the head of department according to the need.

 

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Midwifery, Faculty of Health Sciences or other relevant field.

• At least 1 certified training in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), case management, child protection, psychosocial support, or other protection-related areas.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in humanitarian or social service work.

• At least 2 years of experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), including intake, assessment, action planning, referrals, and follow-up.

• Experience in working with persons with disabilities, children, or other vulnerable populations.

• Knowledge of international protection principles and Sexual and Reproductive Health SOPs.

• Ability to use standard case management forms (intake, assessment, referral, follow-up).

• Fluency in Turkish, both written and spoken (C1 level or above).

• Knowledge of Arabic and English is considered an asset.

• Turkish citizenship.

 

Desired Requirements:

• At least 2 years of proven professional experience in the provision of GBV services.

• At least 3 years of experience in NGOs/INGOs.

• Experience in conducting field GBV and home visits in Gaziantep or Southeast Türkiye.

• Experience in managing and reporting GBV data using digital case management and data collection tools such as Kobo, ActivityInfo, and CommCare.

• Strong skills in reporting, documentation, and data management.

• Previous employment in Gaziantep or other Southeast Türkiye provinces, with knowledge of the local refugee context.

 

Technical Competencies:

• Ability to conduct intake, needs assessments, care/action planning, referrals, follow-ups, and case closure in line with case management SOPs.

• Strong knowledge of humanitarian protection standards (IASC, Sphere, CP/GBV guidelines) and their practical application.

• Proficiency in using standardized forms and tools (intake, vulnerability assessment, protection risk analysis).

• Familiarity with local and national service providers; ability to establish and maintain safe and effective referrals.

• Knowledge of inclusive approaches, including the Washington Group Questions, to ensure accessibility and equitable support for persons with disabilities.

• Skills in conducting field visits, engaging communities, and identifying vulnerable individuals.

• Ability to maintain accurate case files, confidentiality, and produce clear case summaries, reports, and statistics.

• Ability to communicate effectively with children, caregivers, and vulnerable groups in Arabic and Turkish, ensuring dignity and cultural sensitivity.
