Junior Project Assistant (Based in Ankara)

Background and Introduction

German Sparkassenstiftung für internationale Kooperation (DSIK) is the international consultancy and development company of the Sparkassen, the largest network of German retail banks. DSIK’s mission is to promote financial inclusion all over the world. Funded by its member banks, the German government and other donors, German experts advise partners in more than 40 countries on topics such as financial literacy and consumer protection, triple bottom line banking, capacity development, small and medium enterprise finance and others.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has commissioned the German Sparkassenstiftung for internationale Kooperation (German Sparkassenstiftung) with the implementation of the project “Financial Inclusion for Refugees and Host Communities in Türkiye” since April 2021. The project focuses on enhancing the living conditions of refugees and host communities in Türkiye, with a particular emphasis on strengthening the social and economic participation of women and youth in both target groups. Its primary goal is to promote the financial and economic inclusion of refugees and economically disadvantaged local populations through financial education, support for entrepreneurial activities, and integration into the Turkish financial sector.

To achieve these objectives, the German Sparkassenstiftung collaborates with governmental and non-governmental partners, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS), the Turkish Grameen Microfinance Program (TGMP) and local Chambers of Commerce in the pilot cities. The project is implemented in Ankara, Bursa, Gaziantep, İstanbul, and Konya, aiming to strengthen the financial and business knowledge of the target groups and facilitate their integration into the formal financial system. Within this respect German Sparkassenstiftung will hire a full time Junior Project Assistant to support project team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

A. Project and Administrative Support

  • Supporting the Project Team in the day-to-day implementation and coordination of ongoing projects and activities.
  • Assisting with general office administration and ensuring the smooth operation and organization of the project office.
  • Supporting routine administrative tasks, including document preparation, filing, scheduling, and internal coordination.
  • Assisting the project team with basic accounting and financial administration tasks, such as daily entries, bookkeeping support, filing vouchers, tracking invoices, and monitoring payments.
  • Supporting research, reporting, and data collection activities related to current and future projects.
  • Organizing, maintaining, and archiving both digital and physical project documentation and records.
  • Participating in meetings, workshops, and training sessions to gain a comprehensive understanding of project objectives, methodologies, and operational procedures.
  • Assisting in communication and coordination with project stakeholders, partners, consultants, and service providers when required.

 

B. Procurement and Office Logistics

  • Supporting procurement processes for office supplies, equipment, and project-related materials in line with internal procedures.
  • Assisting in the preparation and organization of procurement-related documents and records.
  • Supporting logistics and operational arrangements for meetings, workshops, trainings, and project events.
  • Assisting in the collection, review, and filing of invoices, contracts, time sheets, and supporting documents from third parties and short-term experts (STEs).

 

C. Travel and Transportation Coordination

  • Assisting in the coordination of domestic and international travel arrangements for project staff, trainers, and experts.
  • Supporting the booking and organization of flights, accommodation, transportation, and visa-related documentation when necessary.
  • Helping ensure that travel schedules and logistical arrangements are implemented efficiently and in a timely manner.

 

D. Translation, Editing, and Communication Support

  • Supporting the translation of project documents, reports, training materials, and communication content between Turkish and English.
  • Assisting in proofreading and editing translated documents to ensure consistency, clarity, grammar accuracy, and professional tone.
  • Supporting the preparation of presentations, meeting notes, reports, and external communication materials.

 

E. Social Media, Digital Content, and E-Learning Support

  • Supporting the management and regular updating of German Sparkassenstiftung Türkiye’s social media platforms and website (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
  • Developing creative and engaging content ideas aligned with project objectives and communication strategies.
  • Assisting in the preparation, design, and scheduling of social media posts, visuals, stories, videos, and promotional materials.
  • Designing and improving visual content using digital tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar multimedia platforms.
  • Supporting communication campaigns, visibility activities, and online outreach efforts.
  • Assisting in the coordination, development, and content management of the German Sparkassenstiftung Türkiye E-learning platform in collaboration with experts, consultants, and project partners.

 

F. General Expectations

  • Working in a full-time office-based position with a proactive, organized, and solution-oriented approach.

Place of Duty

The office base for the position will be in Ankara. There may be occasionally travel to other cities in Türkiye as needed to support project-related activities, under the guidance and supervision of the project team.

 

Contract and Duration

The position will commence in July 2026 and continue until the end of July 2027, with a possible two-months prolongation period during which either party may terminate the contract upon notice. The contract may be extended based on performance and project needs.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, International Relations, Foreign Trade, Communication, Marketing, or related social sciences field.
  • Recent graduates and early-career professionals are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous internship or professional experience in project coordination, office administration, communication, NGOs, or international organizations is considered an asset.
  • Strong interest in international donor-funded projects and motivation to develop skills in project coordination, administration, and financial processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Turkish and English.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a professional environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong proofreading skills, including the ability to identify and correct grammar, spelling, formatting, and punctuation errors.
  • Good command of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with social media management and digital communication platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and website management systems.
  • Proven ability to use multimedia and design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or similar software for graphic design, content creation, and video editing.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to generate engaging, innovative, and visually appealing content.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and work under deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Türkiye when required.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic and multicultural team environment.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced international working environment.

    In the video, candidates are expected to briefly introduce themselves and explain their motivation.
  3. Case Study & In-Person Interview: Candidates who meet the requirements of the position and pass the stage will be invited to the office for an in-person interview.
    As part of the process, they will be expected to complete a case study task.
    The case study and interview together are expected to take approximately 3 hours.
  4. Final Interview: Candidates who reach the final stage will be invited for a final interview with the Country Representative.
  5. Final Evaluation and Selection: Following the final interview, the selected candidate will be notified, and the recruitment process will be completed.
