Mechanical Engineer (Makine Mühendisi)

The purpose of this position is to perform all necessary observation, maintenance and repair activities for the safe, efficient and purposeful operation of the installed equipment.

The Mechanical Engineer,

• ensures that all tests performed on mechanical equipment are performed and recorded in accordance with laws, standards and Air Liquide group rules,
• reports, investigates and takes corrective and preventive measures for all mechanical failures,
• determines all necessary spare parts and initiates the procurement process,
• and provides the necessary basic training to the personnel within the target of continuous improvement and supports the development process.

The main responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer are as follows:

1. Plant Operation

• Acts as a mechanical maintenance engineer and prepares the necessary procedures in this regard, provides training to the personnel, and brings the field documentation into compliance with the regulations.
• Is responsible for the safe and healthy operation of the rotating equipment (compressor, pump, turbine, etc.), devices, mechanical connections (pipes, hoses, etc.), safety equipment, mechanical protection systems used in the construction of the facility.
• Ensures that predictive maintenance is performed on the equipment installed in the facility: vibration, thermography, oil analysis. Performs maintenance and repair when necessary.
• Ensures that faulty and routine maintenance is performed, monitors and controls pressure equipment
• Performs and/or ensures that work orders from Maximo are performed, updates the work plans in Maximo
• Conducts studies for improvement, takes actions in accordance with the change management procedure, and makes suggestions in his own field regarding the search for and solution finding.
• Participates in one-on-one maintenance and repair activities in the field, provides technical support to other engineers, technicians and employees, coordinates teams, monitors and manages the work of subcontractors.
• Prepares procedures related to his/her own department, keeps them up to date and provides training to field workers on his/her own subject. Determines good practices and shares these practices with field personnel and other fields.
• Researches alternative manufacturers, aims to use durable and efficient equipment. Evaluates suppliers and works with the most suitable providers for the company’s benefit.
• Observes energy consumption and offers suggestions and takes actions to reduce consumption.
• Follows legal requirements related to mechanics, warns and informs managers about changes.

2. Maintenance

• Follows up on planned maintenance, prepares resources (spare parts, labor, technical support, etc.) for maintenance due dates. When necessary, contacts AL consultants, and obtains approval in accordance with change management.
• Suggests projects that increase efficiency and support continuous improvement.
• Reports failures clearly and concisely, performs root cause analyses, determines preventive actions, and monitors the implementation of actions. Follows up on failure frequencies, and provides preventive suggestions.
• Provides technical support to other departments on mechanical issues.
• Performs/has performed mechanical maintenance. Records it.
• Contributes to the preparation of maintenance and investment budgets
• Coordinates all mechanical maintenance activities carried out in the field, supports other disciplines when necessary. Plans and manages all mechanical maintenance activities.
• Prepares the work plan of maintenance technicians and follows up on the work done.
• Provides support to other sites in terms of maintenance, repair, and projects when necessary.
• Plans/organizes preventive and preventive maintenance and communicates with necessary contractor companies”

3.Ensures that the HSE standards are followed (#Safetyfirst)

• Implements the basic rules of plant safety (including: lock out, work permit, regular safety routes, …)
• Ensures that safety is always considered as a priority
• Is regularly on the field to check the application of safety rules. Leads by personal example
• Participates in incidents analysis, treatment and reporting, and ensures action plan is implemented for his/her perimeter of responsibility
• Participates in accident analyze (RCA)
• Ensures that MOC process is used for plants modifications

4. Completes the administrative follow-up

• Complies with the administrative and security rules of the facility.
• Makes periodic reports and delivers reports on time.
• If applicable, conducts performance evaluations of subordinate personnel, sets annual targets and makes evaluations.”

5. Continuous Improvement

• Makes suggestions for improving production and maintenance processes and performance.
• Determines spare part needs for maintenance and malfunctions, initiates and follows the purchasing process and strives for the facility to operate in a ready manner.
• Provides technical support to other departments in improvement studies and projects.
• Makes suggestions on quality and work safety issues, checks the applicability of procedures, and makes necessary changes.
• Takes active part in IMS, Medical, ISO18001, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO22000 and other management system installations.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 6-7 years experience working as a Mechanical Engineer
• Proficient in the definitions, equipment and methods related to the job.
• Fluent in Turkish and English
