This position is primarily for educational or religious purposes and should be used for providing valuable educational experiences for the Intern. It is to give the Intern an opportunity to see how principles and practices learned in their educational institutions are applied in actual work setting. Under general supervision, the Intern performs work as assigned by the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate with members of the Palestine Census Team to produce ground truth sets for the development of handwriting recognition technology for Ottoman and Arabic. Provide expertise on the ground truth software for team members and supervise implementation of ground truth sets. Create biweekly reports on progress of ground truth development. Research and evaluate the effectiveness of shari‘ah court registers for genealogical inquiries. Produce a detailed report on the familial relations and individual identification markers contained in the Turkish online transliterated registers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced-level knowledge of Turkish language;

Programing experience;

Excellent writing skills;

Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation. They must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.

WORTHINESS QUALIFICATION

Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
