Position Summary:
Create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishing effective rapport with pupils; motivating pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; and establishing good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
Essential Duties:
Teaches a foreign language to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil with the identified objectives.
Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
Utilizes grading patterns that are fairly administered and based on identified criteria.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and interpret the school program.
Interact with pupils, staff and parents in a positive and professional manner.
Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and meeting their academic, social, emotional and behavioral needs.
Establish rapport with pupils and provides a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning.
Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities.
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Certification Requirements:
Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Secondary Education in subjects listed below or subjects or Alternative Teaching Certification as approved by Oklahoma State Department of Education.

CHINESE: Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.
FRENCH: Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.
ITALIAN: Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.
JAPANESE: Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.
LATIN: Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.
NATIVE AMERICAN LANGUAGE:Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.
RUSSIAN: Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.
SPANISH: Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.
AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE: Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.
GREEK: Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.
TURKISH: Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Basic knowledge of technology principles. General knowledge of computers and related technology devices. Ability to systematically troubleshoot standard computers. Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues. Ability to follow all district policies and procedures. Ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done. Demonstrating strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators. Ability to work without supervision, and work as a team player. Demonstrate initiative and flexibility. Ability to document records accurately. Ability to manage confidential information in a manner that respects students, families, and employees. Ability to listen effectively. Strong customer focus; service-oriented attitude. Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to speak clearly in a well-modulated voice with good diction. Ability to read, write, and interpret the English language in a variety of forms. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
