Job Overview
The Commercial Data Analyst is responsible for resolving commercial big data issues and developing new technologically advanced, predictive analytics solutions. The Data Analyst will create new scalable, analytical business tools, leveraging machine learning to enable the commercial analyst and commercial business teams to gain new insights and reduce time spent on data searching, cleaning, analysing. This will enable the business to gain new valuable customer insights and identify sales growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
Individual Responsibilities:

Functional Responsibilities:
- Translates business needs into established business goals and measures of success. Deeply mines a varying array of large data sources, determining the appropriate data for the analysis to be performed, discovering issues, identifying potential uses, and preparing for analysis
- Works with and streamlines established data warehouses, initiates new development of databases, production data, and available tools to build strategic datasets in support of key initiatives
- Establishes and systematically performs processes to assess and validate data accuracy
- Under limited supervision, ascertains and executes plans to build, implement and maintain predictive models using available tools and programming languages
- Monitors and provides feedback on model performance and recalibrates model as necessary
- Independently gathers requirements from appropriate business partners for project, including necessary data for analysis to be performed
- Develops project plans, executes on deliverables within agreed upon timeframes, manages deadlines, communicates progress and makes recommendations to address issues
- Communicates results and subsequent implications to peers and business partners, summarizing analysis findings, in order to build a business case
- Transform the output data into user friendly data visualizations with PowerBI
- Performs statistical methodology and analytical work following standards and guidelines to ensure quality and relevance of derived insights, following moderate instructions from supervisor
- Work cross functionally to identify opportunities to use insights/datasets/code/models across other functions in the organization
- Develops and maintains relationships with key cross-functional stakeholders
- Drives continuous improvement with respect to quality of data analytics (timeliness, accuracy, clarity, transparency) as well as processes and procedures
- Continuously learn and stay current with latest technology
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to handle multiple priorities and manage projects to a timely conclusion

- Effective oral and written communication skills, able to present complex analytics to key stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal skills; comfortable dealing with all levels of management and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders
- Highly proactive and action oriented with a willingness to drive improvements and change
- Ability to comprehensively understand master data, transactional and analytical data hierarchies, sources and relationships
- Good understanding of business processes
- Continuously learning to stay up current with latest technology
- Strong technical accounting skills
- Capable of analyzing and resolving complex questions related to financial performance
- Ability to think outside the box in relation to process improvement and data integrity
- Experiences in project management and ability to work with different teams to achieve the expected outcome
Education & Qualifications
- University Degree required, preferably in analytically based field including but not limited to Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics
- Advanced knowledge and experience with SQL, and data visualization software such as Tableau, Python, R or equivalent required
- Minimum 3 years professional experience required with large datasets and systems, statistical data modeling algorithms, pattern recognition or data mining techniques require technical knowledge/skills include: multivariate analysis, regression
- Medical device company or medical data analytics experience preferred
- Knowledge of Oracle 11i ERP, JDE, Hyperion, PowerBI and Cognos an asset
- Internal applicants with an equivalent combination of education, experience, and performance over time at Stryker will be considered
