UU Student – Library

This position would work on improving the Library’s catalog records for Middle East materials. The position would report to the Lead Cataloger in the Marriott Library. Ability to read Arabic or Persian is required.

Responsibilities

Assist with maintenance of Middle East materials in the Marriott Library, including resolution of MQ barcodes, improving records, updating records, and copy cataloging.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current University of Utah student enrolled 6 undergraduate credit hours or 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.

For the Library to be able to appropriately monitor hours worked, part-time employees are generally asked to restrict their work with the University of Utah to Library employment only, unless an exception is granted.

Basic knowledge of PCs and Macs, including experience with Windows and OS X operating systems, experience with Microsoft Office software. Fluency in reading and writing in Arabic or Persian. Willingness to learn new skills. Ability to work with coworkers, supervisors, and librarians.

Preferences

Helpful but not required: Familiarity with Hebrew, Turkish, or other Middle East languages. Knowledge of library research, library cataloging experience or knowledge.
