Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented and experienced Project Manager to lead federal environmental investigation and remediation projects. This candidate will be based out of the Latham, NY office, however; can work remotely. 

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Familiar with project invoicing and cash flow management
  • Supervise and manage a small team of 3-8 professional staff engaged in complex environmental projects
  • Familiar and practiced in developing complex, detailed cost estimates, subcontractor bid packages, and supporting technical proposal development
  • Prioritize and enforce adherence to ethical and safety standards
  • Leads teams using sound financial management along with advanced scientific principles, theories, and practices
  • Manage and interpret various types of environmental data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance
  • Analyze financial statements and complete budget tracking
  • Perform work with minimal direction with periodic reporting to area manager
  • Oversee the preparation of work plans and organize project studies
  • Perform complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems with the support of the project team
  • Supervise junior and mid-level staff during all phases of project work
  • Conduct reviews and provides staff feedback for continued improvement

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Geology, Engineering, or related field with + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading and managing multi-disciplined, diverse, technical teams and successfully managing complex remediation projects for USACE and/or AFCEC
  • Professional License (PE, PG) and/or (PMP)
  • 10+ years’ experience in environmental investigation and remediation (soil, water, sediment, PFAS, munitions) project management
  • Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or related degree
  • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations
  • Experience successfully managing environmental projects for Federal clients, including USACE, AFCEC, ANG, ARNG, and EPA. 
  • Thorough working knowledge of RCRA and CERCLA
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery
  • Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences
  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and project planning documents.
  • Interest in business development and account management
  • Have led teams of professionals in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies in support of Federal environmental projects
  • Overnight travel required on occasion.
