Description

DAI is seeking a Project Manager to join our busy Implementation Team within European Unit. This will be a full-time role, permanent role based in our offices in Ankara (Turkey). The main purpose of this role is to provide general administration and organisational support to projects to ensure that contractual and compliance obligations are met. To contribute to cost effective and high-quality project implementation ensuring client satisfaction.

Key tasks, duties and responsibilities:

  • Set up project administrative systems.
  • Support Project Directors in applying tools and procedures for monitoring projects and recording and utilising data.
  • Advise Project Directors and other staff in administrative processes and compliance requirements to ensure that projects meet contractual obligations and client requirements.
  • Support the Project Director to monitor and meet contractual deadlines, such as for technical and financial reporting
  • Manage the project mobilisation process, including logistics and setting up the project office.
  • Train, manage and advise project office managers and other project support staff to ensure that compliance requirements are met, and high-quality support is provided to the field teams;
  • Supervise office managers in financial management and procurement related matters;
  • Work closely with project accountants to monitor project financials;
  • Organise events (meetings, study visits, workshops etc.), including budgeting and monitoring of event budgets.
  • Liaise with the contracting authorities and beneficiaries in administrative and other matters as agreed with the Project Director.
  • Responsible for preparing consultant and services agreements using templates.
  • Respond to contractual and invoicing related queries, liaising with Contracts Department as required;
  • Supporting Project Directors in expert recruitment if required
  • Maintain records of standard compliance documents and electronic/hard-copy filing systems; keep CRM, RMS and other DAI systems up to date;
  • Perform desktop research on technical topics if requested by the project director e.g. to support drafting of project reports, terms of references and/or other technical documents;
  • Champion usage of DAI administrative and IT tools within the Implementation Unit and advise Project Directors
  • Facilitate information sharing within the Implementation Unit, EU Business Unit and with other DAI units and external partners
  • Contribute to business development by sharing country knowledge and networks and costing information with the business development department.
  • Other project management tasks as agreed with Project Director.

Qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience related to the post, preferably in an international environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in Turkish and in English
  • Numerate with a high level of attention to detail
  • Advanced level of MS Office
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment;
  • Ability to work on several projects, under pressure and to tight deadlines

Desirable:

  • Demonstrable understanding of and interest in international development and working in an international/multi-cultural environment; preferably in a consultancy environment;
  • Experience of working with EU and other major European donors;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in another language, especially French, Spanish, Russian and/or Arabic.
